We‘d all like a lovely flat plasma TV, but are there many of us who understand the workings of such a stunning piece of equipment?
All plasma screens are made up of two glass panels. These panels are filled with cells that contain noble gases. Following an electronic process, these gases become plasma and are able to emit light. A PDP (plasma display panel) is favoured for its lightweight, slim-line design.
If you are considering buying a flat plasma TV you would do well to consider also the pluses and negatives of installing such a piece of equipment in your lounge.

Firstly, they are more expensive than your normal LCD screen TV. However, what they lose out to on price they make up for in benefits because a plasma screen offers a better picture and a wider viewing angle to boot.
A plasma screen is so lightweight that it can be hung on the wall despite being upwards of 32 inches. A plasma screen adds something of a simplistic minimalist effect to your designer living room as well as saving on space. Another advantage of a plasma screen is that you will be the envy of friends and neighbours! A disadvantage is that you will never get a free moment to yourself ever again.
Another disadvantage though is that they are not economical to run. The amount of power needed for a plasma screen will increase as the picture becomes brighter and will decrease when the screen becomes dark so in this respect an LCD television is more economical to run. One other disadvantage of the plasma screen is that you can’t go smaller than 32 inches. The reason there are no small plasma screens is that it is just not economical to produce or so say the manufacturers.
Depending upon your needs you can get a flat plasma screen with a 60 inch screen for something like £2000 in today’s market. A 42 inch screen will set you back in the region of £450.
Still set on buying a flat plasma TV? We hope you enjoy your new purchase and may it give you many years of viewing pleasure (about 12 to 55 years if the producers estimate correctly).
